First Unitarian Church Portland Wedding

First Unitarian Church in the heart of downtown Portland is an elegant wedding venue and the recent host to Peter and Emily's beautiful winter wedding. Shooting weddings during the winter months is always a gamble with inclement weather, low light, and a scarcity of greenery. You learn to get creative real quick ;) Thankfully Peter and Emily are no wimps (as obvious by their adventurous engagement session at Oneonta Gorge). Braving the cold, they opted for a first look on the park blocks to capitalize on daylight.

The rain held off that morning, leaving soft ideal lighting, exactly what every Portland wedding photographer hopes for. Clearly an indication of things to come as the whole day went off without a hitch! One thing that really stood out to me during this downtown Portland wedding was how relaxed and comfortable Peter and Emily were together. They were completely at ease, responded to direction effortlessly, laughed together frequently, focused on the needs of others, it made the day so full of sweet moments. I loved being swept up into the beauty of it. It's obvious they are very genuine, loving people and draw similarly kind people around themselves.

Enjoy a smattering of images from their First Unitarian Church Wedding, and don't forget to give them some love in the comments!

Favorite moments:

  • Watching as pedestrians stopped and congratulated the bride and groom in the middle of their portraits. (you can see the crazy hat lady above)
  • Dad crying while officiating the ceremony
  • Peter and Grandpa singing together
  • Evening back lit shots- who knew a little rain could look so good?

Many thanks to my second shooter Bianca Jade, always an honor working with you.
